Peer Tutors
In Spring quarter, a call for applications will be posted to Handshake and advertised through various departments and programs for a year-long job as a Writing Center peer tutor. Hiring decisions are made during late spring quarter and a three day training begins in Week 0 of fall quarter. Peer tutors usually offer between 6 to 12 hours of appointments each week for Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters, in addition to receiving professional development and supplemental training. Graduate Student Opportunities
Graduate Writing Consultants
In Spring quarter, a call for applications will be emailed to all graduate students for a year-long job as a Writing Center graduate writing consultant. These are tuition-remitting positions comparable to a 50% TAship, for no more than 20 hours per week. Graduate Writing Consultants provide writing support for graduate students through one-on-one tutoring, with an opportunity for workshop and resource development, from Fall through Spring quarter (and, pending availability, the summer). Writing Center Admin Fellows
Graduate students interested in writing center administration, writing center research or assessment, and writing across the curriculum and/or writing in the disciplines initiatives may apply to become a Writing Center Admin Fellow for the academic year (and, pending availability, the summer). The fellows program allows for a flexible, project-based approach beginning at $2500/quarter for 10 project hours/week and scales up to $5000/quarter for 20 hours/week. This is not a tuition-remitting position and is not comparable to a 50% TAship. View this year’s call here.
