Writing in Community

Research shows that writing in community leads to higher productivity. It turns solitary work into shared energy by keeping you accountable, sparking unexpected ideas, and reminding you that your writing struggles are universal. Join a space where drafts are messy, feedback is kind, and progress is celebrated—together.

The Graduate Writing Hub offers a variety of opportunities for writing with others. All grads and postdocs are invited to fuel your writing and your mind at our weekly, two-hour “Java & Jot” sessions. Several times a quarter, our Graduate Writing Consultants hold weekend Bootcamps – three hour stretched on or off campus where you can sink your teeth into your writing project. Three-day long Writing Retreats, held at the end of each quarter, provided concerted time for focus and concentration a supportive environment.

Bootcamps and Retreats are held in person but can be made hybrid depending on participants’ needs – if you are off campus and interested, please do sign up! Registration is open to all graduate students and postdocs through CampusGroups.

You can find information about our past bootcamps and workshops here.
